Strange noises in rain

Well here is the story...it was raining and i went to get gas cuz i was kinda low. After i got gas...between 1 1/2 rev switching to 2nd gear around 2 1/2 i hear this noise like water clinging against metal...but after 2nd to 3rd..the noise was gone. What can be the problem? i have a CAI but i don't think it was raining enough or enough puddles to suck in anything wutsoever. I'm going to drive it tomorrow and see what happens..for now i want to see if there is a potential problem and see what other members think. thanks

Probably water splashed into your engine and evaporated.

i sorta get this same sound.. onlee when it rains..
i thought it might be my exhaust being too hot?
and the rain hitting it.. making a popping sound?
but damn.. it sure scares the crap outta me and
my girl.. cuz the vibration/popping is right under
the passenger seat.. hmmm.. ionOz....
