You shouldn't need to replace your spark plugs normally becuase you only have 34k on your civic and the plugs should last alot longer then that... but you can get new ones relativly cheap so it would be worth a shot..

How much city/hwy driving do you do? AC on/off, cruise on/off? And to get a more accurate mileage, after 250 miles, how many gallons does it take to fill up your tank? If that 250 miles really is on a full 13.2 gallon tank, then that's really low. I recently went over 40 mpg on a weekend trip (regular gas, EX manual, cruising at 75mph).

I seriously doubt if getting new plugs will help your mileage, but you can try. Our stock platinum plugs should last well over 60,000 miles.

Other than crappy mileage, do you feel anything out of the ordinary with your car?

eh, still getting 250...

i have a stock 02 LX auto and i get 330-360 all the time...

Anyway, i'll throw random things you should check

-Tire pressure (stock is like 32psi)
-Excessive weight???
-what kind of oil do you use?
-what kind of replacement air filter are you using? I'm gonna give the K&N drop in a try because according to members it has increased mpg.
-check your manual for the 30k interval...
-I use denso spark plugs ik20 (use ik16...groupbuycenter.com $43 shipped). Improved 2-3mpg.

Yea not very useful, but that's what i can think of right now (9am)

Actually stock tire pressure is 30 psi, but yeah, crank it up to 32-33 to get better mileage.

I got the K&N drop-in. Didn't make any difference in mileage or acceleration during the first month, but now 3 months later, my mileage has improved noticeably by 2-3 mpg. Not sure if it's due to the filter though. Main reason I bought it was for the re-usability factor.

Kinda OT, but do you think the K&N, drop in is a decent buy? Its time for me to change my air filter, and was toying around with the idea of buying the K&N drop in.

$36 shipped from Martel. I think they're worth it, considering you never have to buy another air filter for the rest of the life of your car... and you even might gain a few mpg and some added smoothness.

And even the cleaning intervals of the K&N are longer than the replacement interval of the stock filter. I think K&N recommends cleaning every 50,000 miles or so... so there's even less work required.

But if you're bored, you can clean it as often as you want.
(Cleaning/Oiling kits cost around $10 though.)

haha

trying to stay under 3500 is pretty hard to do since its an auto. if you did stay under it, you'll be one slow guy. err.. accelerating that is.

i usually get 300-320 mpg.. and i floor it all the time hehe. i have an auto also

you may also want to check your plug wires. on a previous vehicle, i thought that my plugs were going bad as well. it turns out that the wires were fried. the metal piece that connects on to the top of the plug actually melted to the plug. when i went to remove the wires, the boots came off but the wires didn't. the car basically ran like crap and got terrible mileage. if you CONSISTENTLY drive at high speeds (80-90+ mph) on the highway you should check your wires. if that is the problem, try running a colder plug.

Try switching gas companies. You told me you use 76...try using Chevron 87 for 3 weeks. Techron helps..

I think the culprit is the way you are calculating your mpg. Otherwise, there really just isn't much that could be wrong at your mileage.
