Any suggestions on getting rid of rattle in B pillar?
I have an annoying rattle in the driver's side B pillar(sedan). It's a 2001 LX. Most of the posts dealing with rattles have said that the rattles are easy to get rid of but I have tried just about everything that has been suggested without success. I have taken it to the dealer. They said heard the rattle, but that it was difficult to pinpoint. They attemped to quiet it by putting general purpose grease on the metal parts behind the plastic molding, the seat belt adjustment bar is located behind there. The rattles returned however, shortly after the visit to the dealer. Actually, the rattle seems to be higher up in the pillar, almost to the roof of the car. The sound seems to come from near the ceiling and I can hear it if I push on the ceiling or the pillar. I think it may be the sheet metal of the frame around the doors rattling against the strip of sheet metal of the roof where the separate parts touch. Is kind of a ticking sound, like a broken clock or watch or something.
I have tried some of the self help methods mentioned here. I have opened the plastic, and put foam in there, cloth. Someone, said just put a sock in there and the rattle is gone. Well one problem is with all the moving parts in that section, it is difficult to fill the space in side with anything and it's a hard area to work in because with the seat belt in the way, you can't get the cover off. My last attempt was to pop open the plastic pillar cover, pulled back on the inside ceiling hard cloth surface and put more cloth inside underneath the ceiling. None of these methods has muffled the ticking in the least bit. Sometimes, I am driving along and it starts rattling and I will pop open the cover while I am driving along just to do something. I'll drive around with the cover open and the rattling continuing. Punching it doesn't do much either or yelling. Very distracting problem.
I have opened this thing up maybe 50 times now and nothing is works to even make the rattle a litte quieter. I am not too happy about this aspect of my Civic.

I had the same problem in my old Accord.
Out of anger and frustration, I took two swings at the B pillar with a crowbar from the rear seat. This produced two dents in the metal panel. But miraculously, the sound disappeared!
