new speakers making popping/krackling sound
i recently installed new rockford fosgate speakers for the rear of my 02 4dr civic. i did it myself n so i had to drill holes cuz the stock holes wouldnt line up. the popping/krackling noise only happens once in a while. i used speaker harnesses to install them, so no wires were spliced or anything. im wonder whats causing that noise. can it be the chicago weather, cuz the temp. gets hot n then cold n hot n then cold over n over again? or can it be the tiny pieces on metal shards that stuck to the magnet when i drilled the holes? i tried to take most of the metal shards off but not all did. thanx for the input if any.
Is it possible that when you screwed them down you tightened one side too much and caused the cone to distort a little? That would cause a popping sound. I would loosen all the screws, and crank it up to see if it still does it. Metal shards on the magnet wont affect it.
You might also be turning it up too high.

i did kinda tighten them too tight cuz i didnt want them to get loose n start vibrating. i think i shall loosen it a lil bit. n i hear most of that noise when i turn it all the way up. but there are times when i turn the volume half way up n it does it sometimes, keeping in mind i still use the stock head unit. the noises are coming from both the rear speakers. those were the only ones i changed for now. the front speakers are still stock. they shall be replaced though. thanx for the help guys!
If you're turning your HU all the way up that is probably whats causing the sound. You're HU just isnt putting out enough power. When you get that sound and its only halfway up, is it with rap or something else with heavy bass?
