according to the TSB, the vibration under the car thing is only a problem with the 01 LX/DX... i drive a Sedan LX 02 and i still get vibrations... not when water splashes on the exhaust, but snow or ice...
i only get that probelm when i drive over a puddle.. cat is hot so i guess it's the water splash popping.. you know when you pop your hood and it's kinda like drizzling outside and water drops on the exhaust manifold? the water makes that *pop* sizzle sound...

I noticed it when I drove home from the dealership the day I bought the car. I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought the tires were out of balance.
I don't know if it went away or I just don't notice it anymore.

I have a 01/lx and i had that same problem, i went to the dealership and showed them the TSB and they said it's only applicable in US but i am in canada,. I insisted and got them replace the pipe B and the rattling was gone even going through puddles. hope this helps.

I think I've found the problem to this rattling. I got my buddy to check out my car when it was raining one day and he heard the awful bogging noise under the shifter and passenger seat. He works at honda and asked his forman. He later got back to me and told me that their was a problem with the catalytic converter with civics in the year 2001 and 2002. I'm from Canada so the warranty for this part is only 60,000km or 3 years. The actually price to replace the part is over 1000dollars Canadian. I can't believe it's not even a recall or anything, but only a service bulletin. Looks like I won't be driving the car in the rain or snow.
I had a rattling/banging noise coming from the passenger side floor only when it rains. It ended up it was my exhaust hitting under there. I do have custom exhaust piping though. Just thought I'd throw in my .02 cents.
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

j/k. I have a 2001 EX Coupe 5spd and I have the same problem.
I thought I could be the only one but obviously I'm not.
Does anybody knows if the problem is really in the cat??
If that's the problem, then replacing it with the aftermarket downpipe and cat converter (Same piece on EX) should fix the problem, and is not as expensive as the OEM cat.
What do you think??

Its called thermal shock...... what happens is that the exaust pipe gets cooled on one side from the water (the bottom) and the other side of it remains hot, and that causes the pipe to bow and press against the bottom of the car. Causing your rattling. one way to fix it is to get longer exaust hangers, so the exaust is farther away from the bottom of the car.

Anyone in Toronto get this TSB fixed ? I brought it in two times now with the TSB printed out and they did not fix it saying it was only US Tsb.. They even said they test drove my car and couldnt find a problem when it was NOT raining.. How stupid is that ?
I hate honda service definately not getting a Honda again solely on the poor service.

rattling noise,
Hi guys,
I just prited out the tsb even though it's a US tsb, but i told them sisley honda , steeles ave, west, that i have the same problem, so they replace that part. As far as i know it does not rattle that much when hitting puddle.
