Ask TwilightX (Phil). He's known as Mr. Detailer around here. I'm from Worcester though and I never get my car detailed. I just do it myself. Including the engine. You could wait around until we all get together at Mystic3030's (Brandon's) place. We were planning a massive detailing meet when it gets warmer.

Most of the places overprice around here and it's just not worth it. The thing that I do to save time is I get a car wash and get the interior done for about 40.00 - after that I take it home and detail it myself. This way I get the interior done and strip off the old wax from the car so it's all set for new wax.
I haven't found one good place to do detailing, so I'd rather do it myself anyhow. 40.00 tops compared to the usual $70+? It's worth an afternoon to me.
Heck, I was supposed to do a detailing meet, but that kinda got postponed due to winter lol...I still have to figure out how to work on polishes and rubbing compounds for scratches, but I can wash/wax/claybar like nobody's business

I've done it a couple times now. Nothing will happen as long as you follow a few simple rules. Warm up the engine first. Then spray it down with soap. Do not spray heavily over the fuse box. Do not spray heavily over the battery terminals. Do not spray heavily near the alternator. Other than that feel free to blast away. I've done mine three times already using those simple rules and nothing has gone wrong. Oh yeah, after you wash it turn on the engine again and let it heat up and dry off.
