It could be alot of things. Probably best to take it in for a diagnostic check or see if they can pull any stored codes from the computer. If they find any codes then you might be able to track down the problem and fix it yourself. Could be something simple as a clogged air filter, fouled plugs, dirty injectors, etc to something far more serious.

Sounds like you got one of the '01 duds. Lots of members have had issues with the idle and the car even stalling when in motion.
I think it was eventually traced to a bad batch of ECUs but not sure.
I'd take that car back TODAY. If they can't fix it, give it back!

if the idling of your car is your problem then you should go back to your dealer to have the ECu reseted since we have a distributorless engine, they have this special tool that they bolt in to your ecu and reads whatever the problem is,or you could adjust the air mixture in your engine, there is a small bolt there near your throttle body heater,w/c you need a small allen wrench to adjust...hope this HELPS

I suppose the previous owner could have tried the diy and messed up the idle.
I think it's more likely that you have a problem that a lot of others have had.
Your idle is to high. Let the dealer fix it. If it has under 36k it's a warranty repair anyway.

I don't think the dealer would charge you for it. There is absolutely no reason for them not to cover it under warranty. Well, unless they notice the cable has been adjusted. The dropping idle is a common problem. Not common in that a whole lot of civics are affected, just something some of the unlucky people have experienced.
If you are affected by the idle problem, messing with the cable isn't going to fix it. You will find out soon enough. Hopefully, you took care of it.

If you continue to have problems though you may want to check if the previous owner did the DIY for bypassing the throttle body heater. If so, it may have screwed up your mass air sensor and throttle body temp sensors (i.e., they can't sense anything or very little). This is because if the bypass tubes are not installed perfectly (i.e., no bends, etc.) there will restrictions and these errors will show up in the odb diagnostics. Even though, this DIY is only a bypass it needs to be done perfectly so air/fluids still flow with no restrictions whatsoever. Easiest thing to do if this is the case, is to just undo the DIY and reset your ECU. This will bring back proper flow and reset the 2 error codes in your ECU this DIY causes if done wrong. Hope this helps...
