How much should I pay to get exhaust installed?

I just got my DC Sports TCS Exhaust tonight and am going tomorrow morning to get it installed. How much should something like this cost? I was thinking of just going to CAR X, rather than a mom and pop body shop. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you're not patient, and you live in a region that gets snow (And therefore salty roads), you might want to have a shop do it. I went through some aggravation getting my midpipe unbolted from my cat due to the rusty nuts and bolts. I found I had enough clearance just backing my car onto a set of ramps. Try and find a hookup at a muffler shop - I found out after I installed mine that I indirectly know somebody at the local Speedy muffler, and could have had it done for $20 and about a 20 minute wait, versus the half a day or so I spent fighting rusty bolts.

The secret to those bolts is a liberal application of wd-40 about an hour before removal. Couple that with a long rachet and those bolts will come off with one curse word. It's easy to do yourself. Although, the tcs seems to be pretty heavy and is best installed with a buddy.

Anyhow, $50 bucks would be the most I would pay.

Mbow, I tried just about everything I could think of. I used penetrating oil (PB Blaster) and WD40. I applied the blaster several times, totally soaking the bolts, from about 8AM till about 1PM. I finally gave up around 3PM. Stupid road salt.

Sounds like the boogers may have to be heated up with a torch or something. Sorry man! I wouldn't pay over $50 bucks though.....You need a LONG wrench or a long handle that you can attach a socket to. A good 18 inches or so. It will provide a lot of leverage. Although, if it's that bad, you could end up snapping the stud off.

Taking it to the shop may be your only option. Call around and get quotes. It won't take the shop but 15mins...keep that in mind.

Mbow, I eventually got it, it just took about 3/4 of a day. I ended up using a "nut buster" from AutoZone to break the nuts off of the studs. That took forever too, but oh well, at least I'm rid of those crappy things for good.

Great idea......I'll bring all my stuff to your house to do all my installs. My apartment complex tends to frown on my jacking the car up in the parking lot. Go figure

DIY, DIY, DIY!!! its the only way to do it. all i would recommend would be to go get all of it welded together somewhere so you won't have to worry about leaks.

I still can't believe you all paid money to have someone do something to your car that you could of done yourself inthe same amount of time.

But to each his own. Maybe I should start charging $50 to install people's exhaust.

Good Deal! It is frustrating as hay when something so miniscule keeps you from completing the job. It makes ya want to

Anyhow, after a few days of recovery, I am sure you will feel a great deal of intrinsic satisfaction.

Oh, hope you put some anti-seize on those bolts for when the time comes to remove it.

Edit: Had to put my smiles in!

I was able to get to mine with no problem just by backing onto a pair of ramps. Quicker than digging out my jack and trying to determine where my jack stands went.
