grinding...

This is probally normal but, whenever my abs is on I cant shift. Like when comming up to an icy stop sign, if the abs is working and i go to put the car in 1st, it grinds. Is this normal?

First of all why do you want to put it in first? Second will do fine, and no its not good if its grinding....Just think of it this way each time you grind your gears you putting little metal shavings in the gears and overtime this causes Damage and then before you know it your gonna have to get a new tranny) <knows to well[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-nono.gif[/IMG]

I thought ABS only kicks in when you slam on the brakes [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]


anyway, if you're slowing down, there's a locking mechanism so u can't shift into 1st while going too fast

it kicks in when your on ice as long as your moving

its only happend once... and you leave stopsigns in second?

o yeah and when it happend, i was only going like 3 mph, it was right before i got to the stop sign

whats wrong with starting out in second?? it is perfectly fine. it is actually recommended when driving in the snow, less torque which means you will not spin as much. and i think what he meant anyway was leaving it in second until you are completely stopped, then throw it into first, or leave it in second, doesnt really matter.
