I might try that
There is none on the outside but I think it may be frozen inside maybe on the release. The lever inside the car doesn't depress and of course the gas door doesnt come open. Dont want to push too hard for fear of snapping the cable but wondered if there is another way to force the door open. Kind of a pain in the a$$ when you are low on gas, you know?

I was at a random gas station in the middle of nowhere (i didn't know where the hell i was, i was lost), and my gas door was frozen. Some random lady saw me trying to crack the ice that must have been in the seams and put de-icer on the door for me and used her key to get all the icy stuff from around it, and not a scratch on my car.

HELP!!! I need gas!!! I don't know how to get to it... The lever was pushed in and the thing didn't pop out!!!
Does anyone know how or what to do? Can I pry it open?

Push straight in on the approximate spot of the lock... it'll give a little bit and chances are you'll hear the ice crinkle loose. Push the button in the car again and see if it pops. If not, get a fairly thick piece of plastic and trace the outline of the door, see if you can gently pry it open.

Wow..... THAT sucks! Sure is nice in California right now.
Yeah, yeah.... I'll probably get killed in an earthquake.
HOWEVER..... being from Germany, I KNOW what it's like.

Spray the door area with COLD water ( so it doesn't immediately freeze again---think----warm saliva is what makes your tongue stick to the metal pole in the christmas story!) Just use a garden hose or go thru a car wash and that should do it

I tried tracing the line with the bristles from the ice scraper/brush that I have and it got most of it... It still won't budge... Are you sure pooring water on it won't make it even worse? Where do I push? Shouldn't I be pulling?!?

Come on... I really need to know... Do I pry it open somehow? Will I brake anything? Do I just get wait till I either run out of gas or it magically opens?

The thing that it latches on to is broken. The if you drive around the door just swings open now (not all the way but like if you press down on the lever) Can I just use super glue? Or do I replace it somehow?
