JL XR650CSi w/ What Spkrs?
Last question hopefully. The JL XR component set im getting, I am planning to hook it up to a Kenwood KAC-849. Is this a good combination? I can get the Kenwood amp for $210, but I can't really go any higher, so if someone can recommend an amp for the same amount of less. I hear that the crossover settings really depend on the power of the amp, or something like that so I am just curious to know if this combination will be able to push these speakers. Also, I don't need anything extremely fancy. I just want these speakers to go up high enough to where they can be heard very well over my JL 12w3 sub, but not so loud that my sub will get drowned out. Thanks!
hifonics Apollo series off ebay. 75-200 rms per channel, 2 channel amp.
looking at hifonics site, son of boltar or son of thor is exactly what you are looking for (75 and 150 per channel)
The reason you want something a little nicer than kenwood is becasue you've got a speakerset that really takes advantage of superclean power. you run pioneer or sony speakers, rockford speakers, you can use kenwood or earthquake or jbl amplifiers. doesnt really make a difference, if you used a zapco, you wouldnt notice much of a performance difference.
those JL's, it would be a night and day difference thats why i reccommend hifonics, or soundstream or kicker, for an amplifier, in that range. 50x2-200x2, depending on yoru budget/how loud you wanna get

alright, well I have one JL 12w3 running off an alpine M300 and my speakers can't go loud enough, so I have pretty much all bass and very low highs. Maybe that will give you a better idea. I want them to go alot louder, how loud that is, I have no idea. I need an amp that I can mount on the back side of the rear right seat that folds down. I just need something that can overcome the bass from my sub better. I don't want the sound to go so loud that it will overwhelm the bass, if you know what I mean. Check out sonicelectronix.com, they have a good selection of multi-ch amps, I will eventually hook up rear 6x9s. The price really needs to be close to $200. Thanks!
if you could find one for around that price, or possibly save a little more money up, the JL 300/4 amp would run them well also, but, unfortunately, the lowest price i have found, haven't really looked much, is around $370... i wish i could find it a little cheaper, cause this is my next amp i will be buying, cause it matches my JL 500/1 that i currently have powering my subs, and will fit perfectly beside the 500/1 in my amp enclosure i am building currently. so if any of you find this particular amp for a lower price, let me know please. i am debating on whether or not to get JL components as well, so my system will all match, but i want the best sound for my $, so i don't know it it'll be JL's or not, i haven't had a chance to listen to any, cause the car audio shops near me do not carry them, they carry JL amps, and subs, but not components.... are the JL components worth the money?
