White instead of amber bulbs ok?

I know the laws are different in every state but, i just cleared/painted my headlights and I went to pep boys to buy an amber bulb....but a friend of mine there says im fine with white bulbs as long as they aren't blue or red. This is for the turn signal...Anyone get pulled for having a white turn signal?

I know theres a motor laws thing around here somewhere, if someone has the link id appreciate that too.

Well in Vancouver Canada, it is illegal to have a blue bulb or red or purp or green etc. White is acceptable if and only if you have an amber reflector. a amber bulb with no amber reflector is still illegal but they are not likely to pull you over for that.

Somehow i think you are ok with a white bulb, as long as it is clear off, and white / yellowish white when on. Definitely dont go with any hyperwhites that can be easily mistaken for blue if your worried about the 5-0...

In Illinois its legal to have either amber or white front turn signal bulbs and amber or red rear turn signal bulbs. You will get questioned on your hyperwhites if you use them for turn signals. I did all the time and said screw it and bought a pair of amber ones just so they would stop hassling me, it just wasnt worth it anymore.

I don't think white is legall...It WOULD be legall if you still had the reflector in, but since you took that out...
To ease your worries: many people I know (myself included) have cleared headlights and white lights in instead of amber ones and we don't get grief from cops...Good luck!
