What your trying to paint is the WIRE COVER. Not the valve cover. Searching should produce a TON of results.
Basically just degrease it and then spray it over with heat resistant paint with several light coats about 5 minutes between coats and let dry overnight before touching it. If you want, 20 minutes after last base coat, you can use a clear coat over that (3 coats is usually enough) Sanding may or may not produce the effect you are looking for since the plastic has that texture to it. I loved the way my red one looked with teh texture under the paint, gave it a casted look.
People quit acting like asses and just answer question if you know the answers, he should have found answers searching but he didnt, so just help him out. takes just as long to answer as it does to be an *** and cut him down.

Items needed:
(1) can of dupli color engine enaminal (500 or 1200 degree)
(1) can of dupli color engine enaminal clear coat (500 or 1200 degree)
(1) can of primer
****they run about $4.00 (500) and $5.00 (1200)
Just take off the VTEC Spark Plug Cover a.k.a. Valve Cover or whatever
Degrease or Clean it (I just soaked it in water soapy water and them brushed it off and dryed it)
Once dry spray a light coat of primer on it and let it stand for 5 - 10 mins. Do a second coat right after and let it fully dry. Let it sit for about 30 mins or so.
Then start spraying light coats of the paint color of your choice. 3 to 4 coats should be good enough with 10 minute intervals.
Let it dry Overnight.
Spray 1 to 2 coats of Clear Coat with 10 min intervals and let it fully dry
For best results you should let me paint cure. I didnt touch it for another day. Sometimes if you touch it to soon it could leave finger prints.
Hope that helps

I used Duplicolor Metalcast and metalcast groundcoat on my wire cover. I degreased and cleaned the valve cover, I masked off the "A" logo and gave a very light sanding with 400-grit. Washed and dried again, and applied two coats of the Groundcoat 10 minutes apart. Half an hour after the last coat, applied 4 coats of the metalcast (anodized red BTW) 10 minutes apart. I was able to put it back on about 4 hours later, no fingerprints. Looks like metal now!

I just did it today, just to add all you have to do to remove is it turn the 2 screws on each side counter-clockwise about half way don't push too hard or else you'll scratch your wire cover like me
, just pull off its really easy.
, just pull off its really easy. remove 2 screws, take spark plug cover off, sand with fine sandpaper, i used 1500 grit, paint, sand and paint until you get desired apperance, let dry, reinstall same as you took it off, finished..... and when you search, try using spark plug cover, you should get some results that way....
