Cleaning Header Surface Rust
I just bought a used HP full length header with a high flow cat (they are both chrome) and the Header has some surface rust that I want to take off... Does anyone know what would work for cleaning it up... I really only got the header for show purposes so I want it took look nice... If anyone has any other ideas on what I can do to make it look nice let me know... Thanks

You got a FULL LENGTH HP HEADER for show reasons??? That is probably 1 of 2 of the headers made for our cars that actually produce some decent hp numbers. Why didn't you just get a DC sports or Neuspeed top piece header for cheaper and have it brand new???
Either way, you should just be able to take some chrome cleaner solution to it and just keep on wiping hard at it. The problem lies in whether or not it is actually surface rust or not. If it is deeper than surface rust you are going to have to sand on it probably and then that will also weaken the outer wall of the header. But if it is surface rust you should be able to wipe it away with a good cleaner, I have to do that every year to my Chrome headers on my other car.

Yeah I know its one of the best ones.. I just happened to get it for a real good price so I got that one instead of the shorty header.... That sounds like a plan to try out some chrome cleaner and hopefully it is surface rust...

If it isn't surface rust then grab some high grit sand paper then sand that biatch down and then find some kind of chrome retainer(i think that is what they call it). It brings the chrome that was once there back to "life." Or so the box says
Navel jelly. Ewwwww If I had known they bottled the stuff I would clean out my navel more often and make some extra cash.
