Some interior painting/designing q's

Ok, so I decided to finally do some interior work other than the audio and I have a few questions.

1: I see a lot of painting on the vynl/dash and I was just wondering how you guys did it? I know they sell vynl paint in spraypaint form but how the heck did you do it?

2: The doors. How can they be painted too? Not the door panels that can come off, but the actual vynl or whatever it is on the doors.

EDIT: 3: If I paint my vynl, should I sand it? I have some scratches and crap on my dash so should I sand that too?

I'm sure i'll have more q's so i'm thanking yall in advance
