clutch burned out :(
hi. my clutch just burned out on my car on the my way to school. i had to call a tow truck and did not have a chance to remove some of the mods in my car before i took it to honda. the onyl thing they have said so far is that from first looks at a civic witha spoiler and euros is that they think i was racing the car?? they said i was probally shiftin hard and doin all this other crap. well, maybe, but thats not the problem. besides the fact that i will have to pay about $700 to fix the darn clutch, im worried about my warrenty. since i didnt have a chance to remove any aftermarket parts, do you think that will be a problem? the only engine mod i have is an intake. will this void my warrenty? will they try to blame the clutch on this or what? what should i do?

LEARN TO DRIVE I REPEAT LEARN TO DRIVE STANDARD
My friend had the same problem but he raced a lot and shifted hard. One day his clutch went out and the dealership picked it up.
When they have your car they will know how you burnt the clutch
After my friends car was at the dealership they called him in and so he went. The techs told him they know what happend and it was because he raced alot and shifted hard. Well to make a long story short they did replace the clutch but for the last time. My friend got off lucky. They didn't have to replace the part because it was HIS fault. He caused it to burn but yeah you might get lucky you might not.
Honda's are well known for their strong stock clutches.
You might want to cross your fingers when you walk in the dealership because they might just kcik you in the ballz and make you pay instead

thanks for the info. does anyone have any tips on shifting to help this problem from happening again? is it necessary to press the clutch in all the way when shifting, cause i usually only press it about half way and it seems to work fine? could this have caused the problem?

I was always under the impression that the clutch assembly is a "wearable" part and therefore not covered under your warranty, same way as your brake pads and tires are not covered due to wear. My friend just burned up the clutch in his 240sx, and he had just got a new one abour 6 months ago. He had the shop hold the parts they swapped out and it is completely obvious that the clutch they replaced 6 months ago was NOT new when they installed it. He is currently in the process of being reimbursed by the company that put the bad one in 6 months ago since he has obcious proof that there is no way it is 6 months old, nor was it new when they installed it. Other than that, if it was regular wear and abuse on his part then he would have no fighting chance against the company to have it replaced free and would have to pay out of his pocket for the replacement. Im just trying to see where you feel you are in the wrong in your situation, seeing as an inexperienced driver will most likely need a new clutch a lot sooner than a seasoned driver. Im hoping that it was not due to improper installation in which case you would probably need the entire assembly replaced, not just a clutch disc......

its a brand new car with about 10,000 miles on it. it never had the clutch replaced or anything. what i feel bad about now is that while replacin the clutch they might find my aftermarket intake and void my warrenty for that. can they do that?

omg, yes you need to press the clutch all the way to the floor when you shift, and ease it out dont just let it pop. My guess is you shot the pressure plate not the clutch if u have 10k miles but if u only have been pressing it in halfway i dunno. Good luck with whatever sentence they dish out at you.
