Can I lower my Car?
I have 17" RS Limited Valkyrie wheels on 215/45/17 tires. The shop that put the wheels told me that with that set up I wasn't going to be able to lower my car at all.
My question is can it be lowered? and Would I be able to install Gold Line 1.75" drop or the Eibach Pro-kit 1"?
thanks.

wtf, i say you never go back to that shop at all...
you'll be fine with a 1.75" drop, probably even a 2.25" drop. i wouldnt even bother with prokit.
i'm riding on 215-40-18 which are slightly bigger then yours and i'm riding on neuspeed sports with no problems at all

They guy at the shop said that the problem was not with how big the tire was but how wide and that it will rub against the fender.
VNlilMAN, so you really think that there should be no problems lowering it?
Thanks.

there are plenty of members with 215-45-17s and neuspeed/goldlines...
i've heard of some even running 225s with no problems
do you know what offset you got? cause i'm thinking maybe it sticks out a lil too much, thats why he said that. if you dont have a camber kit, the rear wont rub but if you do, it might so you could just keep a slight negative camber or just roll the fenders a little bit. so ya i guess you can have problems with 215-45-17s with a drop but its not big enough to prevent anyone from dropping their car

There was ways to get around this... you can try to find a product called "Fender Roller" (not completely sure if it'll work on our cars), you can take your car to a body shop and have them roll or shave it for you. Or you can probably do it yourself but you could risk cracking the paint.

sonic but i dont think you'd have to roll them all the way right..
and you could always keep a slight negative camber...
i have no problems but its probably cause i have no camber kit and that allows the tires to tuck. i could see how having a correct camber would cause it to rub. but i'd say just keep the camber to the biggest number within spec which is like -1.5 degree's and it should tuck as well.

first question i have is....do you drive a coupe or sedan?
the reason i ask is...i lowered my sedan on 205-45-17...with goldlines..and i have a -3 camber and ive gone through 2 sets of back springs and im about to put on my 3rd set (not to mention i just bought 2 new yokohama avs es 100 tires)...if you have a coupe..then i dont think it should be a problem....but id definatly buy a camber kit!
thats my .02

Thanks guys for all the help.
"Fender Roller" I have never seen it done, I have never even heard of it. So I probably won't be doing that.
Can I just wait till I need to get new tires and just go with 205/45/17? I drive about 30,000 miles a year so i won't have to wait that long.

I just figure that the Valkyrie have an offset of 40mm. Hope this helps.

I dunno man, on my Motegi MR-7s with 215/45/17 Toyo Proxes I dropped about 1.75-2inches on my Teins, and once the camber and toe-in was corrected, the rear tires scraped. If I rolled the fenders it would have probly fixed it, but if you dont I doubt those will work without rubbing (in the back, the front was fine). Also, my rims were +40mm offset too.
