Need some help guys (keyless entry problems)
Well everything was going well yesterday until I couldn't lock my car all of a sudden. I went to my friends house, got out of the car and pressed it twice. Now it should have locked and honked. By the way I have a EX coupe. I walked over and kept pressing it and saw it not going down. It still clicks when I push the button but it will not go down on up. I still can get it to lock and unlock with the key but i am a lazzy guy and liked having the keyless entry. Now here come the hard part. Do open the door by myself and try and see what is wrong or do I go down to the dealership and have them look at it. I really don't want to pay for anything right now because I don't have any cash
. Do u think it is still covered under warrenty?? If not how much do u think it will cost me??

If all the doors are shut completely & your car is less than 3 years old or you have less than 36,000 miles on the odometer........Take it to the dealer. DO NOT try to work on it yourself. If you're still covered by the warranty & you mess with it yourself then it is unlikely that the dealer will repair it for free.
Did you check your fuse? You should always check the fuse first. If the fuse looks undamaged then take it to the dealer. The fuse for keyless entry is the "backup" one under the hood. Just look at the manual and it'll show you which one the "backup" is and there is a spare one in the box. I suggest that even if the fuse looks good replace it and see anyway.
On no model of civic ever made will you lose the interior light or the use of keyless entry if you remove your factory deck.
Honda decks do not control any other system in the car but the CD player or tape deck or both.
Basically..... if you wanna take out your factory deck go right ahead and do it. it won't hurt anything. Just.... please don't hack the wiring apart.... go get the proper wiring adapter so the aftermarket deck can just plug right in.
Hope this helps!

Uh, I seem to remember being told that on the 96-97 EX if you removed the deck, you did lose the keyless entry system... That was the case in my mom's car and I recall reading that somewhere else as well...
I also heard that in 98 when Honda redid the interiors a bit on that generation, they made sure the keyless entry was separate...

I know that was the case on my GF's car. Her factory radio is behind her aftermarket one becuase they told her if they removed it the keyless entry would not work neither would the dome light? It soulds as if that is just not the case anymore.
Thanks,
Basil
