Hi, I have read at many places that the front stabilizer bar for 2002 civic coupe EX is 25.4mm and 2003 civic coupe EX is 15.9 mm.
Anyone can confirm this?

did they reduce the size of the bar to make a bigger handling difference between an EX and the new Si to have more to offer on the Si?

HUH? A 15.9mm on the FRONT? Inconceivable. If that was so, no one would buy a Honda Civic... my god, that's body roll for DAYS in a turn! The car wouldn't be safe to drive.

15.9 sounds like the size of the rear stablizer bar on the Si hatch.

No, Honda would not do something THAT stupid. A stock EX vs a stock Si in terms of handling... the Si wins... easily. The stablized ride from the front anti sway bar to the rear in the Si hatch is much better than the stock DX, LX or EX Civic.

I noticed that difference on Honda's specs page for the new civic's too. I thought it was a mistake, but now that I think about it maybe they did that to make the suspension more soft for the newer models...because while it would increase body roll dramatically, it would make for a more cushy ride

Well, if any of the 2003 Civics find that you indeed have a 15.9mm front sway bar, then I've got a stock front sway LX sway bar for sale along with the bushings.

if they indeed are that small then they(front) would have to be solid instead of hollow like ours. or else the body would rollllllllll

There's no way in hell it's 15.9 in the front. Why would they do that after improving the front anti sway bar on the 2k2 compared to the 2k1s?

why would type a mistake, you just donèt type 15.9 instead of 25.4

Oh yeah, for 2003 they have 15.9mm in front and 12mm in back.
For 2002 they have 22.3mm in front and 13mm in back.
For 2001 they have 25.4mm in front and 12mm in back.

That's for the sedan. For the coupe it's the same in 2003 and 2001, but in 2002 it says that the coupe has 25.4mm in front and 13mm in back.

Hmm... I wonder what's going on. Why all these changes? It doesn't make sense. Suspension tuning by Honda? I wonder if they stiffened the shocks in the 2003 enough so that the stabilizer bars are less necessary? [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

Honda letting the public test there settings. Guess honda went for more of a softer/luxurious setup in 2003. They must be getting ready to release the Type-R.

If there's no official word on it by now, then it's not coming out. Plus I can assure anyone the Type R isn't coming here thanks to it's fuel requirement of 100 octane. It's not meant for the United States.
