Accord or camry gets my vote. You aren't going to find anything for $6000 that is a 97 or newer though...not w/o mega mileage.
You may have to go domestic with those conditions...taurus comes to mind.

Toyota Camry is good and for domestic I would say a Malibu, I know a friend that has one and she said that she is really happy with it.

Im doing the esame thing in the spring...except im selling my car to buy an older car. I would stick with anything Japanese.
Toyota Camry 92-96 V6 preferrably
Honda Accord 90-97
Subaru Legacy
Nissan Maxima

i would sell my car but it is payed off. so i am going to buy another car for my wife but we have a baby coming and do not have a lot of extra money to blow on a nother car so i might go to an auction and buy a car that has been crashed an then have my uncle fix it since he owns a body shop.
Does your wife not like civics at all? Or just the fact that yours is a coupe.
If she can tolerate them I would suggest getting a 96, 97 or 98 LX Civic Sedan. You should be able to find one for about 6-7k maybe cheaper.
Congrats on the dad to be status!

My family has 13 1994-2002 toyota camrys....Thats including cousins and stuff.....My mother has a white 97 camry...Its a very nice reliable but boring car.....lol. It is very good for a family though...Plenty of interior room, good on gas and alot of trunk space. My sister has a white 2000 camry, and she loves it too.

buying a car with " White With BLue Graphics" the graphics are 15" tall japanese sysbles on each side. MangaFlow muffler 3 " drop" 8" tall Neon Zen Spoiler (aluminum)...." is an indication that the owner probably abused the car by driving it harder than your typical non-modded camry owner. just my $.02.
