Bad night at the track...

Ok, so last night was the first night I'd ever taken my car to the track to run. So I'm all excited. My objective was to get one or two good all motor runs, and then one or two runs with the 50 shot. So I pull up for my firs, all motor run. I go through the water and spin the tires just enough to get all the dirt and rocks off. As the tires are spinning I can't help but notice that I'm having all kinds of violent wheel hop. So I stop and let my car get back down to idle. Once my RPMs went down to about 1500 I noticed it was idling really rough. But everything else seemed ok. So I pull up to the line. Try to get staged. And all this time things are going through my head and I'm trying to figure out what the hell's wrong. So before I get a chance to get my **** straight the tree lights up and the V6 Cougar next to me gets the jump. My reaction time was almost 2 seconds!! So I launch (2 seconds later), and I'm shiftin good. Everything is goin ok but when I shift into 3rd I let off the clutch and my tires start spinning. (something was on the track) I'm like whoa! WTF? So I catch traction again and go on to run a shitty 15.9. After that I parked my car and tried to figure out what the hell was wrong. Well, to make a long story a little bit shorter....after talking to everyone trying to figure out what was wrong, someone said "Check your engine mounts, sounds like one is broken." So I go out this morning, check the mounts and sure enough, two of them are broken to ****. I feel like such an idiot. First time ever running at the track and I f**k something up!
So now I'm trying to figure out the best place to get motor mounts. Should I just get them from a wholesaler? My Dealer? Or do they make aftermarket mounts? Please, help my dumbass out.

Any and all help is appreciated. And if you feel the need to make fun of me, go ahead.....

My camera is dead right now. As soon as I recharge the battery I'll post some pics. I also have video of the run, but I need someone to host it.

What a*****e moved this thread to the Street Encounters forum? There was nothing wrong with it being in General Auto Ramblings!

AEMcivic, I wouldn't worry about your reaction time too much when your just beginning. The best way to learn to launch is to just take your time and practice, even though it can be a bit embarrasing. As for the motor mounts, I don't think there are any aftermarket ones for the 7th gen, but I don't think the stock mounts are too expensive to get from a dealership.

15.9 is good considering your re-action time was 2 seconds?

Reaction time has nothing to do with ET.

I want to see what this looks like. I know that Familyman broke his rear one (the one nearest the back of the car). What breaks? There's this rubber surround that encases the ball joint (or whatever kind of attachment it is). Did this rubber break?

Sorry, but I still have yet to take pics for you guys. I've been trying to find rides everywhere because I'm scared to drive my car. The motor mounts that broke on my car were the one all the way in the front, and the one on the driver's side. The one in the front is just a circle with a rubber center that the bolt goes through, and the rubber center makes contact with the outer circle at 3 points. All three of these broke under stress. The one on the drivers side is more like a rubber mount with a threaded stud coming straight up out of the center. There's a bracket that comes off of the engine and mounts to the threaded stud that comes off the rubber mount. This one ripped through the rubber all the way around the stud, so it shifted the engine down and back a little on that front corner. It's kinda hard to explain without pictures, but I just didn't have time this weekend. I'll take pictures as I'm changing the mount.

So, I found out that the driver's side mount is about $81.00, and the front is about $55.00 from hondaautomotiveparts.com. Do they make inserts for our car, or is that a generic thing. Please let me know because I want to call and order them today. I need my car back ASAP. Oh yeah, and sorry about the flamin for moving the thread. I was just in a bad mood.

OK, they were more expensive than I thought...sorry about that. If anyone knows about some aftermarket mounts or inserts, post up, because I'd like to know about them too.

I checked out the Hasport site, and the only mounts that they have listed for the 2001 Civic are for the K20 swap. Do you think they make replacements? I'm gonna call in about an hour. Even if they don't, maybe they can refer me to someone who does...

Yeah, it's not that bad. But it's not good if you consider the work I have done to my car. When I fix this I'm goin back to the track to see if I can do any better.

Ok, I have a question.... This picture is from hondaautomotiveparts.com. I put a red line where the two mounts broke. (just to give you a better idea)

Parts listing for the involved mounts is as follows: (illustration numbers are in bold)
374999 004 RUBBER ASSY., ENGINE SIDE MOUNTING (49.85)
375000 007 RUBBER COMP., ENGINE SIDE MOUNTING (81.07)
369962 008 STOPPER, FR. ENGINE (55.12)

I know that I need ill. number 008, but do I need 004 or 007? What's the difference between the Rubber Assy. and Rubber Comp.? I'd think that the Rubber Assy. (004) would be the mount and the bracket, but it's cheaper than 007, which appears to be just the rubber part of the mount.

I'm guessing that you'll only need 007 and 008. 004 seems to be only the assembly rather than the rubber component. Prolly best to call..

Ok, I called.
004 is cheaper than 007, but it has more parts because it comes with the bracket.
The guy said that's just the way that Honda sells it.
