"looks" fast

I know you have seen those commercials. You probably remember the one where the dog thinks the Celica with the "action" package is moving, when it’s parked and runs into it. I hate that gay bullshit. Factory rice direct to you at a premium price is what it is. But I digress.

I was on my way to Dave & Busters to meet up with some of my friends from clubsi.com. For those of you who know the San Diego area, I was specifically on the 15N headed to the 8W junction. Anyway, I’m in the 3rd lane doing ~ 80 MPH when I get buzzed on my left by a "Silver Streak Mica" Celica GTS, with the optional "ACTION! Package". Looks fast... if you thought TF&TF was the coolest thing since the APC altezza tail lights. As he flew by, I noticed he had an intake, which I could hear, at least. I suppose he could have had the ubiquitous TRD cat back, but I’m not very familiar with how it looks, so I’m not going to make any assumptions. The Asian kid driving it (I know, how stereotypical is that?) moves right, over past my lane, into the fast lane and slows down. He paces me for a while, while I ponder weather or not I have enough room/time to catch my junction and still tool him.
I’m a pretty good judge of distance at speed and went for it. Arm system. 4rd gear. I feel the surge of torque push me into my seat like an invisible hand gently pushing against my chest. (Yes we Honda guys are easily impressed by this “torque” thing, which is alien to us ) As the RPM climb above 7K RPM, I near my peak power production and the speed I gain increases noticeably. Around 115 MPH, near the top of 4th gear, I let off the gas as I gently move over 2 lanes to take my junction. At this point, I had nearly forgotten about the celiac. I check the rear view to see him WAY off in the distance. Still in the fast lane he quickly cuts over 3 lanes to get behind me.
I have slowed back to about 75 at this point and he flies up on my ***. Riding about 2' from my bumper, I’m getting pissed. As soon as I finish taking the junction the freeway opens up again into 4 lanes. When that happened he jumped over a lane and punched it again. I wait until he has a good 1/2 car on my when I nail it again in 3rd this time. I put immediate length on him and by 90MPH at the end of 3rd I couldn’t see him anymore, apparently he had given up while I wasn’t paying attention.
Feels good to put people in their place some times, especially since I hadn’t had a run (decent or not) in quite some time.

Way better story and race than my crappy race with the V6 Camero.
Sorry I forgot, what mods do you have? I think you have a 6th gen. right?
Still, really good race.

Hmmm.. "Looks Fast".. Isn't the Celica GT-S faster than our car? With 180hp DOHC and still only 2,500 pounds, I think it would be much quicker than our cars..

before the junction, after the last tunnel. Those things always remind me of gt3-a SPEC
