I want to purchase some sort of Alarm for my car, willing to spend up to $300.

you can get a excalibur alarm with dual proxy sensor, hood/doors/trunk sensors/glass sensors for under $300.00 installed. Get the atv-1000 model and add on the accessories mentioned above. Great alarm for the money.

Damn I want a good alarm but the problem is I dont know who I can and cannot trust. Im afraid that the installers will screw up my wiring. I know that places that install radios and alarms dont know sh** most of the times. They use test lights and guessing and im not sure thats a real way of installing an alarm. Plus how would they know thw whole wiring diagram of a civic if theirs a bunch of different cars that come in everyday like FORDS, NISSAN, TOYOTAS, etc. I really want a better alarm but it all comes back to the installer

Yeah, that's my main concern too. I don't know where to go to get it all done.

I want to get an alarm too, but cant tell the difference. I know I want one by DEI, but Clifford or Viper? They make like a 10 other brands too. Not really sure what I should be looking for.

I know the competent shops around here have a computer program. What they do is punch in the type of car, body style all that info, and up comes pics of the radio, door, speakers everything, and wiring diagram. you should just ask to see what kinda of info, and maybe ask to see if they are doing a install at the time you walk in. The shops I goto, I have asked to see what kind of connectors they use, where they put everything. If the shop doesnt show you, or is very unhelpful... take your business elsewhere. Also ask friends, co-workers to see what they have and where they had it installed.

Honestly, just pick an alarm shop that has alot of business ... more business indicates ... good jobs. For the kill switch dont worry ... only if you get a remote starter to the have to bypass the kill switch ... apart from that all the wiring is for power ... which is pretty simple job.

L8tr

Viper 300hp ... pretty basic but suits my needs well

Well not all shops are like that, I'm dei installer. Civic are not very hard to install an alarm in. I use test light to double check to make sure it's the right wire. Before the install, I'll have a print out of the car alarm wire diagram, which shows me exactly where the wire is. If u need help let me know! I prefer the clifford!

The correct way to hook up an alarm is not with connector, the right way is to solder the wire. If u see an alarm install with alot of elec. tape wrap around the harness, it's a sign of lack of know how to install an alarm. Makes it harder to go back and add on option. The wire gets really sticky!
