Thank God For 5mph Bumpers

Just about 15 minutes ago, I was getting back to college (Ferris State University) and it was snowing pretty hard. I was going about 10 and went to turn into my parking lot but the car just kept going straight!! (damn ice) so I yanked the E brake and truned to get the car around.. and it got it around almost the whole way.. almost. So I hit a pole.. oh well though, not a mark on the CIVIC BE CAREFULL PEOPLE and DRIVE SAFE.. later all

Actually, not pulling the e-brake and just turning the wheel would have the same effect on ice. I'd rather hit with the front of the car than have a chance at hitting with the side. Your car will have less damage that way.

ShadyMilkMan, I think ur thinking of 5mph Speed Bumps. I did too at first.
Accutally I woulda done exactly the same as you, because jus going straight while ur brakes locked can do damage but turning causes friction even on slick ice and possibly avoiding the pole up ahead. Too bad ya caught it, but good thing it didnt do anyhting.
