RSX s Shocks in 2001 sedan?
i dont know how many of you read the hasport civic thread, but there was a link to what they were planning on doing to the car and one of the mods was RSX s suspention. now i have 2 questions about this:
1. is this mod something that recquires custom work to the car or is it a bolt on? i read there was a guy that put Si shocks/struts in his 7thGen, so im wondering if the RSX shocks/struts are interchangeable as well.
2. if the RSX shocks are bolt ons (a direct replacement for the stock civic ones) which of these components would i need to successfully install them on the civic??
Rear

Front
i mean do i need just the absorber assembly? or will i need all the mounts as well? or will the civic mounts for the shocks/struts work with the RSX shocks???
Edit: im sorry if this is a repost, but i searched and found nothing that answered both of my questions. Thanks for your help!

do you have that link?
ya from what i know our cars and the SI's suspension fit exactly the same.. as you mentioned, that guy had SI struts, also aswzero ordered tein flex's and they said EP3 on the box.
as for RSX, i know the front springs will work.. i'm pretty sure the rear springs will work as well but not 100% sure. as for the actual struts, i have yet to confirm that...

do you know which parts i would need to do the swap? do i need just the absorber? (# 5 & 7 on Rear and 5/6 on front)?? or will i need all the other stuff also (except for the spring that is)?? cause if the RSX shock does fit, does it mean it fits onto the civic mounts and flanges and all that stuff or do you think ill need to get the whole RSX setup?
maybe i should drive to an acura dealer and ask their service dept. my honda dealer told me to go ask them about putting in their brakes, so im guessing they have no problems with doing stuff like that.

i would think everything is the same except for maybe the bumpstop. reason for this.. i'm sure front springs fit, which would mean the top/bottom perch is the same diameter. so ya the rest of the top peice should work along with the top perch... this is IF it works...
oh one thing you want to look out for is on the front strut... you know where the two big lower bolts are... peice #13/15... the RSX had two different sizes... one of them is smaller then the other.. how do i know this... i visit www.clubrsx.com site to learn/teach since our suspension is very similar, they have said that in order to put B&Gs on their car, they have to drill bigger holes in order to fit it on the newer RSX's.. so ya not sure which one is the one that fits our cars...
btw, why do you want RSX struts anyways?

hmm...ok. thank you. that makes sense to me, i think im gonna go to acura and see what they have to say also to make sure our train of thought is correct.
i know this seems like a silly thing to do since i can probably get the koni yellows for cheaper than the RSX S shocks, but im leasing my car so im trying to keep as many warrantees as i can. since the RSX suspention is definately sportier than the civic one, i thought i can do the swap and still might have it be covered under warrantee if acura installs them. they are an oem honda part after all. im not worried about springs because you cant screw up springs, but shocks blow out so i know sooner or later theyre gonna have to be replaced. so thats my reasoning. does that make sense?

i dont think blown shocks are covered under warranty are they? and i know some dealers will warranty all aftermarket products installed by them... there this on dealer in diamond bar, ca they do all sorts of installs and they still give you your warranty.. but ya maybe your dealer doesnt.. if RSX's shocks dont work, you could always use the honda SI's

im not sure if shocks are covered under warrantee, but i dont see why not. i mean normal wear and tear probably not, but if they just blow cause of some bump or whatever, before theyre supposed to, im guessing theyre covered. naturally ill have to change the springs to stock before bringing the car in there to get fixed, so they dont know im riding with lowered suspension.
but yeah, i already talked to a honda dude at my dealership and he told me that they wont install any aftermarket parts, even if its by the same manufacturer that makes OEM (i was asking about brakes and nissin). but he sais they had no problems with me installing parts just so i know that i wont get refunded for them when i return the car after the lease. its cool tho cause ill be taking all of them off by then and putting the car back to stock.
still havent had a chance to go to acura and ask them, but if those dont work then ill have to ask about the Si shocks at honda. hehe
