The Best Coilover/Shocks Combination???

I used to have a dropped 97 Accord and I loved it. I haven't dropped my civic yet and it sucks! I feel like I'm in a lifted truck (exaggeration)! I really want to drop my car but am unsure on what combination I should get. I for sure want to get coilovers because I wanna drop my car right now (which doesn't have rims) and slam it! And when I do get my rims (not sure what size yet) I'll lift it up a little to where I want it. So, the question is what coilover with what dampeners/shocks makes the best combination? Keeping in mind durability and ride quality, among other things.
P.S. And I know I should get the true coilovers, but just can't fit it into my budget.

you dont really have a choice except between ground control and skunk2s.. why? only shocks out for our car are konis. and only coilovers that are worth getting are ground control and skunk2s. but think about it, konis = 550. gc/skunk2 = 300. thats already 850... i think NEX goes for 800 but it hasnt come out yet. for 200 more you could get teins but i dont think you could slam your car with those. maybe 2.5" drop the max.

Or you could wait for Tokico shocks. They're supposed to be released January. I am waiting on those because Koni's warranty sucks compared to Tokico's.

maybe you misunderstood... its not that koni+gc and tokico+skunk2 go well together. they are all good shocks/sleeved coilovers so whatever combination you decide to use its going to be fairly good. but they werent specifically designed for each other.
as with true coilovers such as tein, nex and b&g, these come with both shock and coilover as one so they are designed to work together.
did i make any sense?

n yes i believe the tokicos are going to be adjustable

Nex was out for our cars but there was a recall on them due to an unfixable toe problem. version 2 should come out soon and the people with version 1 will be able to trade it in for the new ones when they come out.

Tokico adjustables don't work with coilovers. You'll have to get the non adjustable ones.

And Tokico's are actually out.

ya i talked to tokico myself and they said it wont be out till atleast early next year but a few people claims to have it on there car.. someone is bs'in here. unless if actually see them on the car, i'll believe tokico.

yes nex are true coilovers. n i think they got recalled due to an unfixable toe problem, not the front struts cracking. nex is known as a fairly good brand.

not sure when nex is supposed to come out, i heard it was supposed to be out by the end of the year..

for a good ride, you cant just get good shocks or good coilovers, they both have to be good. n i dont recommened any of those brands you mentioned

i wouldnt even get a sleeved coilover. if i decide to go with coilovers, its going to be true coilovers.. i rather spend that extra $200-300 and get the real deal. but if i had to choose a sleeved coilover, i would probably have to go with skunk2s cause i've heard quite a few badd thing about groundcontrols. skunk2 with tokicos. i think konis are the best but tokico isnt that far behind. and for the price, tokico wins. i'm not too concerned with ride quality tho.

Personally I was thinking about going with the Koni/GC/GC Camber kit, but that will cost about a grand and the Tein SS are $1100. After all the thinking(after using NEX, Sportlines, and Weapon-R sleeves) my friend just placed and order for the Tein Flex for me. It is a nice way to spend $1700. The NEX coils ride well, do not have adjustable dampening and the bearing/bushing for the front pillowball mount wear out. fairly quickly. The coils are designed for a stiffer ride, but do not correct oversteer like the Tein/JIC. The tein and the JIC have stiffer rears (8kg/10kg; 8kg/9kg respectively (FR/RR)). The weapon-R does the same but does that through helper springs and the rear coils compressing all the way to give you a very harsh ride. The NEX spring rates are 10kg/6kg. Just a thought!
