Sub Question
I know absolutely nothing about car audio, so forgive me if this sounds stupid. I was talking to a friend (Who sells audio) and he was trying to sell me some subs. I got a pretty good deal for 2 12" Type R w/box but he said the amp to run it was $$$$. The bottome line, he says that Underpowering a sub is way worse than overpowering it? Is that true? Or does overpowering it lead to less sub life?

overpowering it will cause more more heat, if you go beond (Sp???) the thermal limit it will blow the sub
underpowering a sub, will cause less volume so you will turn it up more, when you turn it up more you will start to cause distortion which will blow your sub
most of the time your are underpowering your sub when turning up your stereo you make more power.
dont know if you understood what i just said cant figure out how else to explain it.

What Ohm load configuration are those subs?..
Underpowering isn't bad is you don't drive the amps into distortion. Overpowering can melt the VC's.. Keep in mind that most subs are rated using Sine waves which is a constant output wave. Music is not constant output so for music subs can genrally take about 25-33% more power than they are rated for...
Pending the ohm loads of those subs..there' a few inexpensive good amps that will push them with authority..
