Erratic Amplifier
I have an Ample Audio A410X and it's been working really well for me, but lately, it's been doign really weird things. it's a 4 channel and i have the rear bridged to 4 ohms connected to a JL 8W3 D2 (in series for 4 ohms).
The weird thing is that it will sometimes bump, and sometiems not. the power LED isn't on, but the volt meter says there is power to the power cable and the turn on lead as well. I might be driving aroudn a while, then it will suddenly start working, sometiems when i hit a bump. I suspect a loose wire. it's not the thermal protection because it's rarely ever hot when it's not working and it doesn't work at times first thing in the morning while it's cool.
There's one thing that might be a little weird: When i checked the voltage with the voltmeter, when i check at the battery, the needle swings all the way to higher voltage, then sometimes when i go to check right at the point where the cable connects to the amp, it will only swing over to 5 volts. It only does that sometimes. Other times, it goes all the way to the right from teh battery adn the back. I don't think that is the problem becasue once when i was testing it, it was full power at the amp connections, but still no power LED. I'm thinkign there's a loose wire inside the amplifier somewhere.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Ahh, I think i just found it. It'll be a couple days before I can confirm that that was the probelm, but I think that the reason it was doign that was because the fuse that i had used was too short.
I had popped the larger fuse that came with the kit and got a fuse from teh store, it was shorter. The fuse holder jsut barely wasn't tight enough for it to fit so it would sometimes come in contact and sometimes not.
