posting in the wrong forum.. n you think you should be the next mod? hehe i'm just messin...
its easy, just follow the wire from the amp to the headunit... my guess would be its ran through the drivers side... pop off the door sills, the peice infront of it which holds the hood latch release, all the way to the back of your headunit

how is it better and more direct? the shops there must be doing a half a$$ed job... i dont think its very pleasing to lift up the carpet and find wires everywhere...
my shop ALWAYS runs power and RCA's on opposite sides. plus, how can you guys say its harder? wires tuck right away, you dont have to pull up any carpet or anything, unless when you run it down the middle, you are talking about laying it on top of the carpet. very ghetto.
far easier to run them under the door sils, which pop out by clips if you insist on removing them entirely, unlike the center console which comes out by many many screws.

#1 console has to come out. thats a pain.
#2 youve established your experience, but have left us to trust you completely without an answer why. its still easier to get teh RCA's under side panels vs the center, especially for our cars. you can wedge teh cable in there with no panel removal.
the EASIEST way to get the RCA to go down teh center of our cars you still have to pull at least 2 screws and the plastic clips from teh front of the center console. far far easier to run them down teh side.
but you have experience at three shops. why did the installers reccommend runnign them down the center?
edit: ill admit ive only installed in a dozen cars or so, but ive never found a single one of them to have the carpet glued down, am i missing something else here too? honda civic, chevy express, toyota camry, volvo 240, they all came right out, so why is there discrepancy?

I am sure as heck no car audio master but have been doing some reading. Everything I have read states that the rca cables should be at least 3 feet away from the power cable. Also, from what I have read, a good layout is the power down one side, the rca down the other, and the speaker cable through the center. Anyhow, this just what I have read.

Those three shops, when you pay to get it installed you pay for the cable by the foot after they are installed, it was to save cable, I already stated, it is the most direct shot. If the power is on the passenger side, you run the RCA's down the side of the console closest to the driver's seat, and vice versa. And yes, a lot of cars have some type of glue or putty holding down the carpet down the center.
About being easier running them down the side, it is actually more work, becuase the console is already out to get to the back of the cd player, if you do that the right way.
Another reason we were told to run them down the middle if possible, is because a lot of these cars are show cars, with lots of electronics, and god only knows what they have or plan on having run down the side

cant say anything about the rest, tho. my shop uses premade cables, so we dont have the problem of charging by teh foot and trying to save teh customer money that way. that however, could solve some comlpexity probelms, for sure, if they make them like that. with no heads, all you would have to do, theoretically, is fish teh cable under the console, the cable itself would fit, i imagine.....
however, most hobby installers dont make their own RCA cables, so at this point i think our argument is moot. an interesting idea, tho.....
