Share space?
This may be a dumb question, but is it bad for two or more subs to share air space? meaning can one cavity serve two enclosed subs? will this cause problems? Just curious, it seems like multiple sub installs would be quite a bit easier if airspace could be shared.
Thanks!

This debate is worse than the Capacitor one... there are no distinct advantages or disadvantages as far as sound goes. The only time sealed chamber setups are more useful is if one sub blows..then the other still has the proper airspace.
Also the divider in a sealed chamber is a great brace...but a properly braced common chamber enclosure will sound the same provided all equipment is working fine.

Maybe i wasnt making myself clear (?) I mean two subs using a single sealed enclosure....I think you understood, mohawk, cause your answer makes sense, i just wanted to make MYSELF clear.
And a followup question: so if two subs are sharing a single sealed enclosure, is the chance of one or both of the subs blowing any easier increased?

Given the enclosure is properly braced there should be no difference in sound..or risk of blosing the subs ina shared chamber enclosure. Running 3 or more subs shared chamber though causes rear wave cancellation and causes subs to perform rather oddly sound wise.. Shared chamber for 2 subs.. FIne..no problem.. Shared Chamber with 3+ SUbs...no..

waves are WAY too big for that to be a problem. its more along the lines of diminishing returns, not phazing issues.
but if your really that worried about it, you can install all woofers using the line source theory, installing the woofers in an arc designed so that each pathlength from each woofer is the same distance to the ideal listening position. that will fix that issue right there......

nope, seperate chambers wont fix phazing issues addressed by mo. installation in a line will tho. regardless of seperate or shared air.
again, your not looking at "canncellations" you are looking at "diminishing returns".
