Security Question
Since today seems to be a day to talk about alarms and such, I have a few questions. My car will be pretty done up over the next week and will be parked in commuter parking lots or parking garages during the day for the next two years (damn college damn them!).
So can anyone recommend a security system? I'm looking for the best bang for the buck...not necessarily a cheap system, but one thats worth the $$$$.
Also, does anyone know any insurance addons or bonuses one can get to cover aftermarket upgrades if your car is stolen?
Thanks in advance guys.
Matt

In terms of having the add ons covered by your insurance, you can faxe them the recipts of these items and they will cover it. The reason I know is because i called up geico and asked them if they cover these after market items and they said yes.

Try and park it somewhere else. If not try to park where there is lots of ppl traffic. Don't park it far away where ppl can fvck with it.
Also, it helps if you call your insurance co. and have them add your aftermarket stuff to your policy. If anything gets stolen out of my car it's covered in my renters insurance. That's kewl. And don't leave anything visible.

Get a clifford - good advice. But whatever you get make sure you get as many options in there as you can! Most alarms don't do a lot in terms of protecting the things inside of your car.. only keeping the car itself from getting stolen. Get a battery backup and an interior siren (mini piezo works the best) at the very least. Other things to consider are a proximity sensor, Glass breakage sensor, extra mercury or pin switches for the hood and trunk and a pager system. If you're more worried about the car itself getting stolen check out the clifford black jax system. If the car is stolen, it shuts itself down a few minutes after it has been started and goes to total lockdown except for the blaring siren and flashing lights. It cannot be started until you find it and put in your special code. And of course by then the thief has either run away screaming or is in handcuffs.

Did your insurance go up after you told them the aftermarket stuff you got? I'm going to have around $4k worth of aftermarket upgrades on my car at the end of next week.
