What's that smell????

I've had my car a little over three weeks now and every once in a while after driving, when I get out of the car I smell a faint burning typw smell. Is this the underbody coating burning off and the breaks breaking in?? I have about 450 miles on the car. Any ideas. Thanks.

Probably your motor man, like your exhaust and all. Just breaking in man, no worries!

how about brakes?

if you drive on really hilly roads then your brakes get really hot...

I was really zipping around quickly and stopping a lot and was also downshifting a lot as well before I smelled it. Hopefully it was that and nothing major. I know it wasn't coming from under the hood.

So I go home get out look underneath and theres a plastic bg stick to my exhaust pipe under the car..Oh well...Anu suggestions for getting it off. It's on there prety good. Should I just let it burn off on it's own??

Pull off as much as you can and let the rest burn off. My friend back in High School forgot to remove the funnel from is car after putting oil in it, that thing stunk for over a week.

it might be burning clutch. It might be because u are reving to much in first when u are starting off from a stop.

Hey Master, get some glasses and grow up, the post was clearly there before you replied and there was no Edit. I was just trying to make a point, and thats all.

I've had the same burning smell on my car too, but mine now has 22k and it started around 19k. After hard driving, it smells like either I'm frying my clutch or something. It's definitely not burning rubber though. Any ideas?
