10s v 12
General question here, just curious...
Which system would be technically better....
TWO 10 alpine type rs, or ONE 12 alpine type r........ really i'm just using the type rs so people dont ask "well what sub are you usiing?"
I guess really i want to know if there is a benifit to haveing 2 10s of a given brand, versus 1 12 of the same brand, same sub....am i making any sense?
which would bumb "louder" and "harder"?
keep in mind, that in my little game here each setup is given its req. max power.
thanks

Given max power the pair of 10's. using the same $$ for that pair of 10's and getting one much better 12 which can handle more power...Priceless
the real answer is that it depends on the music you listen to. definitely dont want 10's if all you listen to is rap!
if you listen to low bass music, go for the 12 setup. if you like rock/pop/punk/country, youd be happier with 10's
assuming all other factors identical, the 10's will get louder, cone area advantage. but the 12 will play deeper, which may be what you are looking for, may not be.

well if u are like me and listen to rave and techno, then 10 inch is the only way to go, reason being that the 10" will respond faster. rock, alternative, and that sort of music will work well with 10" also. but if you want the deep tones to hit nice and deep, like rap then you want the 12". Bass is nothing more than air that is pushed, so if something is bigger then wouldn't it push more air, giving you more bass. The bigger the subwoofer gets the response times gets lower.
BTW whiterabbit does country music have bass?????

for electronica id get 12's cause there are punchy 12's out there, and for sweeps, which most of my electronica has, 10's just dont play low enuff, slopes off REAL quick.
my tempest punched hard and quick, too
and yes, country has bass. with an epicenter, it has even more bass. and that bass is alot more fun to listen to =B
