will a 240watt amp power 2 10s well?

i got this alpine 4 channel 240wattsX1 so it would be 120 watts(4 ohms) to each sub. im not looking for a teribly powerful bass, i just want something that sounds and looks fairly well. the reason its 2 10s is because i already have the box, the subs, and the amp, so let me know your opinions

thanks

I dun think that it will hit as hard as u want it to be........
because you have a 4 channel amp, mainly it's used to power high's
Which are 6x9's and tweeters and 5x6's.............

I would recommend getting a nice 300 watt 2 channel amp if you want good decent bass
with minimal wattage

it'll hit hard enough if you're going for bandpass, but i think you'd need more for open subs.

if you want it for your subs, try to get a class D amp,
the 4 channel amp u got now will only run at about 50% efficency
a class D amp will run at 75% efficecy

meaning that:
if u have a class AB amp, that is rated at 300w peak power, and a class D amp, like a jbl 300.1 which is rated at 300 peak power

the class AB amp will only put up 50% of 300w which is 150w
the class D amp will put up 75% of 300w which is 225w
get my point?

so if you only want to use it for subs, they get a mono amp or a class D amp, same thing

EDIT: class D/mono amps will ONLY work for frequencies under something like 80hrz, basically only subs
