honda's solution to the squeaking springs?
i was looking at my stock springs today, and i noticed that both of my front springs has tape wraped on one part of the spring, and it was neatly taped there. i suspect honda did it during one of my oil changes.. any ideas?

I never heard of anyone's stock springs making squeeking noises. Squeeking struts have been an issue but not the springs. There's no tape or tubing on my stock springs. Take a pic.

you had squeeking springs? are you sure its not the coil wrap that comes with it. its in between the spring and lower perch(where the spring sits on)[hr]

here's the pics

here's the drop with neuspeed sports, it's actually a lot lower than i wnated, it fills the gap nicely, leaving 1 1/2 finger gap front adn 2 in the back. the negative was easier to see, the original sucked

ya my car didn't come with that either so i get rubbing/rumbling/clanking/whateveritsoundslike noises when going over badd roads. i sprayed wd-40 and the noise wasnt as badd but now i also get a small 'popping' noise when i turn the wheel. my music is turned up all the time so i live with it. but if it really bothers you try squeezing in lithium grease on the bottom perch. but best thing would be to get a rubber peice and put it on the spring as we were supposed to(if we had it that is). i know someone here found a rubber peice that fit but not sure where he got it.
i have that rubber piece on the base of my front stock springs. i noticed it when i was removing my front bumper the other day. hey vnlilman, how long have you had your neuspeeds cause i'm consdering them but all these complaints about them squeaking is making me lean towards h&r sports or goldline. i hope it only squeaks during the "break in" period.

i had them for like 3 months(?) now... i had no squeeking sound(where did you hear about people complaining about neuspeeds?). i do have other noises but you have the same chances of getting the same noise with other springs cause its mainly an installation thing and not the actual spring themselves. but ya to prevent the noises, just remember to put that wrap thing on the new springs you get, lubricate all the moving parts good after you reinstall everything. but ya you might here a 'pinging' or 'clicking' for the first month or month and a half.

the 'clicking/pinging' noise is the springs settling in so ya it doesnt have anything to do with the wrap thing. however the poping, might. y2k2civic has a big problem with this, he says he even feels it in his steering wheel. i hear it a little but its not that loud and i dont feel it. he thinks it has something to do with the control arm but i(and the mechanic he took it to) think its the springs actually twisting a little bit. i mean i know its not supposed to but its possible. i think the spring twists cause all the joints werent lubricated enough when putting everything back(cause i remember when doing the install i had ALOT of grease on my towel. but ya who really knows... not sure if y2k2civic got it fixed yet or not.. i just live with it, its not harming my car(i dont think) so ya its all good.

I get all kinds of noises from my neuspeed sports. It only happens when going over bumps, rough roads, or it pops when turning slowly like in parking lots or garages and such. It always get worse when it is raining or wet. So, I figure the lubrication allows the springs to move easier. I didn't think about that until after I sprayed wd-40 on them.
I know my stock struts are blown so if/when I replace them, I think I am going to either put a piece of rubber in the bottom perch or buy some tubing and put it on the bottom coils. I don't really get any noise from the rear though.

the steering wheel shakes past 80? lowering your car shouldnt do this. well it might... it is recommended that you get an alignment after you lower your car. and a mis-aligned car can cause the steering wheel to shake(according to some tire websites). so ya maybe your alignments off? but usually lowering your car wont cause this. i have a problem with my steering wheel shaking past 50 but its cause of my new rims, not my neuspeeds.
and what exactly do you mean by the steering wheel feeling loose? it doesn't respond as quickly when you turn or something?
