heated seat and mirrors...
heated seat and mirrors...
Alright this is purely hypothetical and I have no idea if its possible...but.... my friend has a junked '91 Saab 900 turbo hatch sittin in his garage. he bought it to fix but he instead bought a dead '90 900T convertible and is using the other car's motor, etc to rebuild it. Well, the hatch has heated seats and mirrors and I was just thinking, if we removed the front seat covers would it be possible to transplant the heated element and wiring, etc. from a car like that with heated seats into ours? I mean the saab's heating system is nothing more than a wire that heats up underneath the fabric. And when i was looking at my sedan's fuses, there is a blank spot for heated seats. Its just a theory though. Same thing with heated mirrors, why not just take the heating elements, etc from a car with heated mirros and tranplant them into our mirrors. Again, just a theory. It would probably take someone with electrical and engineering knowledge. Probably useless for those of you in the warmer climes but over here in new england it gets damn chilly and Id love to have my A$$ heated when the temp drops in the winter.
Just a thought: Why go through all that trouble? This Canadian dealer could sell you the mirrors off a Civic and the seats off an Accord.

I believe the heated mirrors would work on our cars with no problems. Somebody told me, or I read here a long time ago, that they drew power from the existing wires for the power mirrors.
that does sound like a back a$$wards idea, but that is a pretty good theory. Those heat pads are like the same set up you see if you tear into a seat with a heater. Its this wire that goes back and forth across the seat a few times and heats up. if you could just install that wire under the upholstery and wire it up, youd be all set. On a side note, i have no responsibility if your car goes up in flames.
