Summit Racing 200MPH Sport Compact Car contest
I guess summit was giving away 25K to the first "sport compact car" to run over 200MPH in the 1/4 mile. They had had this offer on the table for a while and someone finally got it... but WTF?
The winner was running a tube framed, RWD V8 powered toyota "celica". Far be it from me to dictate who gets prize money for a contest i have nothing to do with, but COMMON! thats like a NASCAR racer claiming he drives the worlds fastest monte carlo. What was the god damned point of having that contest, if the rules allowed for set ups that ALREADY pull down OVER 200MPH runs... just with sifferent skin thrown over the tube framed chasis. they could have at least timited it to a factory chasis, or FWD or stock engine blocks or SOMETHING. pointless if you ask me. what say you?

dedicated drag is okay, i mean most of those 8 and 9 second hondas you see use tube frame chasis as well, however at least they still use honda 4 bangers (and a TON of boost) for the engines and keep it FWD.
