Free Horsepower

Well, if you recently read my last thread, you know that I just got laid off 2 days ago, I've been looking for jobs and thanx to some friends of mine on this site I've been getting reffered to some good places. I'm still awaiting a call from some good places. Well, in the meantime, since I have no money to wastefully spend, I decided to do some mods to my car that would cost me nothing. That and I was bored. My best friend came over to help. So by the end of the evening I had removed my power steering, bypassed my throttle body heater, unbolted my muffler, and removed my windshield wipers (cuz it's summer anyway, in case it rains I'll put them back on, and maybe rain-x will help if I want to keep them off). Looks pretty clean. Sounds really good and I gained power in my takeoff due to the power steering being removed (not that hard to steer). I gained in my higher rpms due to the removal of the muffler because I no longer have that back pressure, the cat is still keeping me back though. The only thing is that having no muffler is illegal, I know, but I think I got it covered. Around here there is a lot of imports, a lot and my car doesn't sound louder than anyone elses. A cop will not be able to tell I don't have a muffler unless he physically looks under my car, which in that case I would have to have been pulled over for some reason. Then I will have to admit not having a muffler.... BUT!!!.... I will also admit to the fact that I was jacked by some ricer kids because they must have liked my "shiny custom" muffler. So, the cop will probably say, "Get a new one son and when you do go get it checked out at court" which I will and I will have my muffler back on. So I'm happy for now, eventhough I still have no job, I will hopefully have one by next week, and will continue the modification of my civic. Until then... I will roll like this.

yeah, I already have an intake, pretty bored wasn't I? ha ha

oh to take off the winshiled wipers it's easy, that black cap just pops off and the nut is right there, loosen and remove, put the nut back on and the black cap back on

I love the HP and "exhaust" resonance... quicker take off and meaner sound. I want a 7th gen civic now! Oh, well... I'm Jeremy, Chacho's friend if anyone was wondering. The car runs smooth and is not difficult to steer, see what happens when two crazy foos get bored?

Ah hell yeah, say wasup to my homie, Jeremy, he owns a 95 GSR with a JDM front and rear conversion. Looks tight as hell. He also has a B20 VTEC in there, kicks a$$. I call him my mechanic, cuz he helps me out with stuff. I'll have him come out to the next meet so you all can check out his ride.

i disconnected my power steering about 4 months ago. it did feel a little stronger but i dont know the actual difference between power gains of a pulley set as opposed to just disconnecting the power steering.
