Photo of my DIY painted valve cover
I just did this this afternoon. I like the way it came out. I cleaned the cover in detergent soap and then rinsed it, sprayed it with high temperature engine paint... I used Ford Red. Then I brush painted the HONDA VTEC with Testors silver model paint.
I got the Injen CAI in today. It took about 3 hours to do, and worked exactly like it was supposed to. I have to clean up the CAI pipe tomorrow (hand prints and dirt) but other than that, it looks real good in there, and sounds great. (No.. the hose for the crankcase vent is not the Injen Hose. They forgot to include it in the box. So I went to the Acura dealer (Honda wouldn't help me out), and the guy was nice enough to give me some heater hose for the time being. The bright red Injen hose should be here next week.)
i had a choice of ford red and universal red..and i didnt want ford so i went with the other..but then i realized that ford red is brighter...and universal is more orange...eh
looks nice...how many coats did u do?..i used so much paint..like 20 coats.

3 coats of red and 2 of silver did the job. I really wanted to find the red paint that Ferrari uses to paint their engines, its the brightest red I've ever seen, but no one sells it, and I didn't want to call a Ferrari dealer about it (the closest one is 4 hours away), and its probably the world's most expensive can of paint.
