All Aftermarket springs, front should be rightside up or upside down?
Philipsidez and I are scaring the shizzlenit out of eachother because we both got our Neuspeed Sports installed at the same time, but on the front suspension, my closer or tighter coils are sitting on the perch (down) and his are way up there (up). Do we both have our front springs opposite from eachother. Our rear springs are the same though with the tighter or closer coils sitting on the perch. His dont make any tapping noise anymore but mine do. Vnilman has his installed like mine and we still get sounds. Which way is correct? Thanx...
Yeah, can anyone shed some light on this? In the March 2002 Turbo magazine, there's an Eibach spring install on an RSX (same suspension, right???) with the tighter coils on top. Would it be the same on a Civic Neuspeeds? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I don't know but it just seems like it wouldn't matter whether the tighter coils were at the top or the bottom. I really don't see how it could affect much..[hr]

I always learned it should look like an ice-cream cone. So, the tighter coil goes on the bottom. That's how I've always installed springs. I've never seen an instruction manual or diagram stating which way they go, I've just done it the same way for the last 10 or so years.
my neuspeed race springs make a lot of noise. I have the tight coils on the bottom. maybe i'll flip them around next week when I put my koni's on??? It'd be nice to know which way they are supposed to go though
this might help...when I DIY installed my Eibach Sportlines they had writing on them...the instructions said make sure you can read the writing, as in being able to tell the difference from putting the spring in upside right...haha, no duh...
so if there is any writing on the neuspeeds it was probably put there to be able to read it through the rims...but if there is no writing then I have no clue...but my sportlines have the tighter coils on the bottom...

Everyone seems to be putting their front springs with the tight coils down.... but take a look at these pics. Tight coils on top on the front, tight coils on bottom in the rear. I'm keeping mine with the tight coils on top in the front.

Maybe someone should email or call all the spring manufacturers and see what they recommend. I have never seen anything saying one way or the other in any spring installation instructions. Well, they really don't give you any instructions except to be careful compressing the spring and such...
Yeah, I emailed them last night, still waiting for a repsonse...
EDIT: the writing on mine are all upside down. Note, the back corners have the wrting upside down and there's only one way they go in...

ok...then you probably have it right...the writing should be all the same...it's a shame the instructions weren't very clear...if you want to double check, a bunch of members from Canada East are on Neuspeed...you might wanna post your question there!!

i don't think it matters either, the spring acts the same way. however, i went with my instinct (i installed them myself) and put the tighter coils at the bottom. i've had them on for about 2 months now and i haven't had any problems at all. i would go with the tight coils at the bottom.
EDIT: that's for the fronts. for the rear, there's only one way they go, cause one end of the spring is tapered. for that, the tight coils have to go on the bottom.

Take a look at the link that I posted a few posts up. Tight coils on the front are on TOP on both the red springs that they take out (Neuspeeds??) and the eibachs that they put in.
Link for the lazy
I'm pretty convinced the tight coils go up top on the front.
