Some questions about intake and exhaust.

Well I just found this website and love it! I've been looking for a website like this for awhile. This place has a ton of info on 7th gen civics.

Anyway, I own a black 2001 Civic LX coupe (automatic). I'm interested in buying an exhaust system for my car but am just looking for a little advice from you guys. What's a good sounding, high quality exhaust for the fairly reasonable price. I've seen a lot of people are split between TCS and Magnaflow. I'm just curious of the price of these two. Also should I go ahead and get an intake system along with the exhaust? And if so what are some good options for those (prices?).

Any help on this would be really appreciated. Thanks.

People say the DC TCS sounds great ($550!!!), but the Magnaflow sounds pretty good too ($300, however it hangs a bit low if not corrected).
There's a Magnaflow Group Buy going on right now, here. Video clips here

ok, since you have an LX automatic... you can get an AEM SRI (short ram intake), or Injen SRI or Injen CAI (cold air intake). I highly recommend the Injen CAI ($200 shipped, ptuning.com check the top banner for an additional 5% discount). Or you can always check the Marketplace section, they are a few Injen CAI's for sale.... very cheap. Unfortunately, there are no video clips of the intakes...but i heard the Injen CAI sounds really good. The SRI's are ok, not loud enough according to some people.

It's your car, the choice is yours.
If you have money, go for DC TCS with Injen CAI.
If you are low, go for Magnaflow with Injen CAI or SRI($160 shipped).

I also recommend tornactive. here or tornactive.com

I have always liked the skunk2 exhaust sound... of course it runs a hefty $500+
but it is a nice setup..
I would reccommend a Injen SRI.
People will argue that the CAI gets more power gains because it brings in "cold" air. but really that is negated because of how much farther that air has to travel and the fact that the pipe it travels through is hot from being in the engine....
hope this had some useful info..

Hey ak I just read your car specs and noticed that you have the same headlight bulbs I have. I just got the Nokya H4 Hyperwhite bulbs yesterday. I don't know about you but when I was testing them last night I noticed a big difference. I'm wondering what they look like to other cars. Are they comparable to the Audi A4's?

I have an LX auto and I have Magnaflow and Injen SRI, SRI is supposed to be more helpful for automatics and CAI are better for 5speed, AEM doesnt even make a CAI for an auto because their dyno came back with a loss of power. Also since 7thgens dont responce with much added HP from aftermarket parts, you might as well save some money. Magnaflow is stainless steel and sounds nice and pretty quiet so you wont sound annoying. I like quieter exhaust sounds. Magnaflow is loud enough though and has a good deep note. Injen sri save you from the problems of hydrolock or water in the engine, and sits low enough that any strut bar with fit over it. AEM curves up first and the only strut bars that works with that are the neuspeed and dc sports. So if you got tons of money the u can do AEM and DC sports, or you can save money and get same quality.

Peace
Brandon

I do see a difference, too. The thing is that from close they have a small purple tone in them, heh. I don't know if they are comparable to A4s, aren't those Xenon or HID??

Thanks for the post rowdyb7! Do you notice any difference in acceleration or anything?

I'm pretty sure the A4's have HID's with more of a purpleish tint to them then the Nokya's. I was just wondering how the whiteness and brightness compared.

ya i heard both magnaflow and DC TCS....they both sounds great and not loud at all.
if u can afford the DC then go with them...but magnaflow is not bad either for the money u pay for them.
but 1 thing is that the magnaflow does sit lower than the DC so if your ride is really low then it might rub the magnaflow muffler
good luck with your selection and keep us update
