New Muffler, what I have to do first?
Well, that depends, is it just a muffler or is it a whole rear section w/piping? If it's just the muffler, you shouldn't have to, but have fun welding...........if you didn't acually buy it yet, I would suggest getting a full catback system. Much easier to install, and most of the time, it sounds better too.
I installed my exhaust in 30 minutes with regular hand tools(socket wrench is all I really needed).
Not too loud? What exhaust do you have? I had the HKS Hiper rear section with 2.25 piping and no res and I got pulled over the next day. The cop said "I could site you for you modfiications, but going to be nice and save you a trip up to Sacremento." What BS and he was oringinally going to give me the ticket for the exhaust. Instead I got a speeding ticket failing to yield to a pedestrian. Who was standing in the middle of the road waiting for his family which was a block away. I did not go until he was off the road, I guess I should not have honked. But I guess he did notice the headlights shining in his eyes. Anyways, I got a glass packed res and now it sounds better and performs better. It is not as deep as the Tanabe look a like I had before. You can now talk to the person sitting next to you while traveling 80 mph down the highway. The only time the Hiper is loud is when you are gunning it. when you are cruising it is nice and quiet.
i had an ac autotechnic revolution muffler w, 2.25"piping and no cat. it was a very deep sound and now i have my hp headers and n1 . thats ridiculousy loud. my older setup was much better. i was pulled over by cops about my exhaust being "too loud" but they cant bust you for that unless yourre over 80 db. or something like that. and beint cited for mods, that sux. but its pretty much a load of bs.theyll try to bust you for something more solid. like blue lights or something
