Chugging motion when braking... warped brakes?!
I dunno what the hell is going on...
When I'm slowing down from, say.... 50km/h to 0km/h, my car will begin to CHUG every once in awhile... It's as if I'm running out of gas, that type of feeling.... I have a Acura 1.7EL, so it's got 4 wheel disc with ABS...
Is it warped rotors? How much to fix? New rotors, or just need to be machined?
Someone mentioned that it COULD be that after my tires were rotated, they didn't torque some nuts right....????
What's the cost to fix this? I just hope I'm not wearing anything out because of this....

Explain this chugging motion a little better. Is the steering wheel and brake pedal shaking? If so probably warped rotors. If that is the case then the need to be ground and that doesn't always solve the problem if that doesn't work then you need aftermarket rotors. Is your car 5 speed or auto?

if its the back-and-forth "chugging" i think you're talking about, than it could very well also be caused by the ABS kicking in. i have an EX w/ ABS and sometimes i can feel the ABS in action when braking (even when you'd think the wheels arent locking up) and it sort of feels like chugging.

I have an auto sedan with 4 disc with ABS....
No, I don't think it's ABS, since this I only feel this on low speeds.... hiway speeds I don't feel it.
The entire car is chugging.... Or well, lurching a bit. The steering wheel doesn't vibrate, the pedal doesn't shake either.

It's not engine braking either.

UGH - I need to make a FAQ!
yes, yes, it sounds like you have warped your rotors - usually this means you have to replace your rotors AND your pads (unless you want to do a 1/2 A$$ job. to do it yourself will cost <$200 to have Honda do it will be $350-450.
you should only have to replace your front rotors and pads, unless you REALLY messed up...
before you go do this, take a wrench to your lugs and see if they are tight.
also if you go this speed without hitting the brakes and there is a vibe, it is probably misballanced tires.
but if it only happens when you apply the brakes, even lightly, then it is most likely warped rotors.

Awwwww, crap
What will mess up if I DON'T get it fixed ASAP? I'm thinking of waiting until my 32k maintenance (Should take me another month to hit that), then asking them to take a look at it. (If it's messed up and cheap (i.e. only machining), I'll get it done at the dealer. Otherwise, I may just have to shell out some money for aftermarket rotors and pads.....)

go to the dealership and tell them that your brakes grab at freeway speeds! They will for freee machine your rotors for you if you are still within the initial warrenty on the car...
they did this for me, i also asked because the warped rotors prematurely wore my brake pads that those also needed to be replaced and they did it all for free, just be nice about it.

UPDATE:
Went to a nice dealership around here, checked it out, and found my front rotors to be WARPED. Machined them for free under warranty
The guy had no clue as to why they warp, and/or how to prevent them from warping..... He went thru the standard answers of riding the brake, hard braking, etc...
I'm happy

Brakes warp from becoming excessively hot..then cooling far too quickly..biggest cause is coming off a fairly dry highway. Slowing down quick for your exit and hitting a puddle..

I was at one of those 24h self car washes, and I was spraying some rim cleaner on my rims.... I saw steam come off the rotors from the liquid, and I was like.... OOoooo! I've got hot rotors! Just like those WRC cars!

Stupid me. That might've BEGAN the process of warpage I suppose, but I didn't feel warped rotors from that day on...... I'm never doing that (on purpose) again....
