brakes squeeky at 18 k miles

My brakes have become squeeky at 18 k i was woundering if anyone has the same problem. They should last longer than that especially since im not real hard on the brakes. I know the dealer adjusts the brakes at 10 k but they wanted to charge me $90 for it at the time and i told them to f off was i doing the wrong thing. I thought it was just a way to make money. Anyone with the same problem. Thanks

Service guy at Honda says it's rocks and dust getting into the brakes... He says it's a common problem on these Civics and all they have to do is wash off the pads. I'm taking mine in tomorrow to have them do exactly that. Except mine isn't a squeak but a loud pop when I step on the brakes at 30~40km slowing down, and I can feel the jolt on the brakes too!!!

I do think that Honda made a bad car this time around. Sacrificing way too much quality with bargain parts and designs!

RedDragon333 will become famous soon enough
It wouldnt hurt but if you dont want to pay the $$$ DIY its not hard pop off the tire and you got access to the calipers and the rotor right there change the pads and look at the rotor see if it needs to be replaced or just surfaced or "washed" off and might i suggest performance pads and crossdrilled rotors just my opinion though

I had to change my braake pads at around 21000 miles......... the car started to squeel at the rotors........
when i took out the caliper to look at my brake pads......... I saw that the pad was down to the size of a credit card.....

Sorta related to the topic and more for ppl w/ manuals:

Do you guys use your brakes a lot? I wonder b/c I make it a point not use them too much and instead use the gears to control speed. I really only tap the brakes to stop and then let go---unless I'm on an incline, of course.

I had to change my pads at 21k too. When the meachanic showed me my ish I couldn't beleive it. But i driven though the mountains of west virginia tennesee and the upstate of south carolina a lot, so my brakes get abused. When It's time for some new ones I'll just get some high performance brakes and rotors. factory brakes suck

hehe tell me about it my went at 14 k, but I am also a heavy braker, but they still shoulda have lasted twice that even under extreme braking conditions, but if you warm up your rotors and keep on racing and cornering your brakes tend to melt like butter.

Yeah, our brakes suck. The guy at the Honda dealership even told me they suck. I had to get mine changed at 15K miles, and they started squeaking around 12K. They were really loud during the summer when it was hot and humid outside. Next time around I'm going for aftermarket brake pads. Damn, if I keep switching to aftermarket parts, I'm not gonna have anything original on my freakin' car!!
