2011 Honda Civic FD 1.8 Coolant leak [solved]

Guys and Gals, Im totally new to this. It was recommended by my friend in Texas USA. I reside (semi Retired) in Thailand. I own a 2011 Honda Civic 1.8L FD model. It has given me good service. over 300,000km on it. Service it routinely as per HONDA Maintenance. Recently I see a puddle of coolant under the front of the car, on the back side of the engine. It is located behind the front wheels under the cab A/C heater unit!

I have taken it to my HONDA Shop and they informed me that the radiator is leaking on the lower left side near the radiator drain plug. They want to replace the radiator. I informed them that I will get a second opinion. I have heard many comments about COOLANT leaks on HONDA Civic - ie- Radiator Leaking, Hose Clamp leaking. Head Gasket blown, Water pump seal leaking, porous block!

I purchased radiator flush kit, installed it and ran the engine for 1 hour driving around. Drained the coolant and it did show some discolored particle. I flushed the coolant system with clean water as recommended. I the installed COOLANT system leak seal! Did the same and drained it and flushed with clean water.

I then installed new coolant 4.25liters and ran the car again. Results, engine temp normal, No Overheat, Check the coolant level every day after running it 35 to 50 km around town. When I stop engine running, there is a noticeable puddle forming again behind the front wheels under the heater box. I check the coolant level and is down about 200ml - 250ml.

Please help me find a possible root cause and possible repair. In Thailand cars are not fitted with heater cores!

Block issues only really occurred from 2006 until the early 2009 models. Head gaskets were really only 7th generation.

Rad leak doesn't sound outlandish here. I'd certainly replace it (and other components of your cooling system) anyway after filling it with stop-leak. That stuff does considerably more harm than good.

Good Morning Honda CIVIC Forum - Can anyone else provide me with a possible resolution before I go spend a pile of money if I do not need to. As I stated in my post, the car is running fine, does not overheat, only leaks off maybe 200ml - 250ml in 30km-50km!

I will lift the car on a hoist, check the back of the engine on firewall side, take photo's and attach. If it would be as simple as a Hose or pipe going into the fan housing, no probs. I will attach photos for future HONDA CIVIC owners with same problem.

You will have to pinpoint the leak.

Good Morning everyone,

As I spoke and commented 2 days ago, "I WOULD TAKE CAR TO SHOP AND LIFT UP ON HOIST TO PINPOINT LEAK"!

Answer, On the bottom of the Cab Heater/Cooler box there is a drain for AC water drain off. on the body outlet opening there is, should be a drain tube bubble which only allows drops of water drain. This Drain Tube Bubble was not there anymore, maybe fell off, ripped off driving thru higher than normal street flood water level.

Long story short, when to Honda Dealer, ordered a new item Thb 580.55 (app. 18.00US).

Thanks for all your input and responses.
