2015 Sedan Wont start, then will and runs fine
Hello all, 2015 Civic Sedan, 200K miles , owned it the whole life of the car, never had to do anything to it. Passed it on to my daughter recently and now the trouble begins lol. She said about 10 days ago that she got in it in the morning to go to work and when she hit the start button, the dash/display lights did a real fast little "glitchy thing" and it took a second longer then usual for the car to roll over.
Then it ran fine for a couple days. about 6 days ago, it did the same thing again, but this time the glitchy thing with the dash lights was a bit more intense and it wouldn't start. It was late at night so she just left it there, I went the next day after work to look at it, jumped in it and hit the button...started right up, no problem. Took it to auto store, kid ran a test on the battery, starter, alternator...he said all good. I am a bit hesistant to believe that, nice kid, but young young , I don't know enough about their computers to know how easy it would be to miss something/how hard it is to read the codes, etc? If he says those items are good, do I trust that?
She drove the car for a couple days after that and it was fine, fast forward to yesterday and now the car wouldn't start again, she says this time it did the "glitchy light thing" for "like 30 seconds" and the motor didn't even roll over. I was out of town, so I told her to let it sit and I would come look at it this morning, texted her this morning to make sure it was still sitting in the same place and she said no...its here at work, she got in it this morning and it started right up.
So, I'm about to go pick it up and bring it to the house, I know with something like this its about impossible to say what it is...but I'm hoping someone has maybe dealt with a similar issue and has some advice,
Do I start with new plugs? Am I crazy for thinking maybe a starter issue? Ive done the whole bang it with a hammer to get another week or two out of it on my work trucks, but this whole push button, computer screens stuff scares me like the dentist, I know how a vehicle acts when you turn the key and the starter is wonky, but the push button/electronics thing adds a different layer, its way out of my wheel house.
Thank you in advance for ANY advice you can offer.
