Need a straight answer!!! Please Help
Hey guys,
I have a 2001 Civic and im having idle surging issues. I replaced the IACV and the MAP sensor but no improvement. I saw online that you have to bleed the IACV since it has coolant flowing through it so i did and no improvement. I also saw online to pull the ECU fuse after i replaced the IACV and MAP then that will reset the idle. Still no change. IDK if im missing something or if this is just misinformation. I took the whole throttle body off the car with the IACV on it to check if the gasket on the IACV was seated right and it was. I cleaned the throttle body since i had it off and i reinstalled everything, Double checked all the hoses and still no change. i didnt bleed anything this time but i did pull the fuse and no improvement. Can someone lead me in the right direction on this because im just about ready to sell this car as is purely out of frustration. Thanks in advance....

Did you check for any vacuum leaks, and not just around the throttle body?
Re: Need a straight answer!!! Please Help
Ok i thought it was no across the board but ill check this afternoon. If i do have one ill give it a cleaning with some throttle body cleaner and update

FYI there are EGR runners/ports in the intake manifold. You can clean the EGR valve easily but cleaning the entire system requires you to remove the intake manifold.
I can't tell you for sure that's your issue but others have had problems with cheap/non-OEM IACVs.

Just so i know, when do i do the "relearn procedure" to get the idle correct after all this? Like if i do get it figured out parts wise, how will i know the part fixed it if i dont relearn the idle?

My EM2 (2002 EX coupe MT) definitely had an EGR. When I did my first head gasket change, all of the EGR ports were coated in black soot, mostly the passages in the head itself. The IM was pretty clean. I ended up soaking the thing in Marvel's Mystery oil, nylon brush scrubbing, and spraying with brake cleaner to clean all the crud up
As far as knowing if it worked, it's all gonna be guess and check man. Idle relearn and check
