need help . 02 civic lx non vtec powerloss\backfiring, undrivable after warm up
so this has been going on for over a year now . got the car and drove it home knowing the manifold was bad , its the one with the cat in the manifold . so halfway home it bogs out and the manifold is blood red . left it there for an hour and when i came back i ran for about 30 minutes then did the same . i replaced the manifold with headers , no cat . same issue . replaced the camshaft position sensor , same issue , got a mechanic to check the codes and i cant remember the code exacly but he said it was my top o2 sensor , which is the air\fuel ratio i beleive . so anyway i ordered that . still the same thing with the new sensor . so i parked it for a few months now im just sick of it and want to get it running . started it up the other day went for a drive and this time when it happend i had my father check the muffler to see if it was clogged at all and it was spitting out metal flakes . i assumed it was peices of the old cat stuck somewhere so yesterday i cut the muffler off . same issue again , today i cut the resonator off and its completly clear . Iv had this to 3 shops so far and everything i said i replaced i was told was my issue . sorry for the long post but i wanted to get as much info across as possible . anyone have an idea ? or maybe point me towards something else to check ? anything would be greatly appreciated . also forgot to mention check engine light shut off after i replaced the o2 sensor but came back on after it messed up , was purchased from napa

vacuum leak in the intake manifold? That would throw more air than expected into engine

What brands were the sensors?
checked engine timing?

i cant remember for sure about the other sensors , most of my parts come from carquest most likly ac delco . but the o2 sensor i got recently was NGK or NTK whatever it is because i had to go to napa for it . one thing i noticed tho is on the car originally the top o2 had a blue wire and the bottom o2 wire was black , the picture on napa of the new one i ordered was blue , but they gave me the black one . i didnt even realize untill today maybe i have the wrong sensor in the top ? as foor the timing i havent checked myself but it supposedly had timing work done before i bought it . i asked a mechanic to check that one of the times i took it in he said the timing wasnt off or anything .

As in the harness plug/wire cover is black instead of blue? That's normal. As long as you have a Denso/ntk a/f sensor that should be correct. The other sensor needs to be OE as well.

yes thats what i meant colin its just the sleeve . i got it all back together today , got rid of the intake box , put on my cold air intake , cut off the resonator and muffler and installed new ones because someone said peices of the old cat could be stuck inside . also put in fuel with fuel injector cleaner , cleaned my maf sensor , checked my fuel pump . so once i got in to go for a test drive it worked for another 30 minutes and died completly . it wont run untless i rev and it struggles to even get the rpm up while backfiring . trying to get someone to check it for codes again now i had to leave the car up the road . it should start up after a while as usual . i guess ill check for vaccume leaks once i get it home . im honestly stumped . has any one had similar issues like this ? runs amazing for 30 minutes then just losses all hp and stalls , but starts right back up and runs perfect again for another 30 minutes ?? no one seems to be able to figure this out

O2 sensor spacers only work on the downstream sensor to get rid of p0420. That's all they do.
you need to do more/better diagnosis, or take it to a shop that knows Hondas and pay them
