91 civic engine 1.5 liter in an 88 crx

I had to put a new distributor on a while back, I installed it, ran it, Everything seemed fine but when it got hot it kept stalling, I checked the sensor in the distributor, it was bad, got another tested it, installed it, still stalls when hot. I've been trying to do the timing, I read in a Chilton book the car needs to be ran long enough for the fans to come on before I can jump the timing connector but I can't check the timing cuz it stalls when it's hot. The idle barely goes up or down when I adjust the distributor when it's still cold. I don't know what else can be the problem. Should the pistons been in a certain position when I installed new distributor? Is it a fuel filter or fuel problem? Is it a sensor gone bad somewhere? Please help!

Was it an OEM sensor?

I don't think so, I'm not sure really, I do know that it works, before I installed it I got it tested, installed it and it still stalled when hot, took it back to get tested again and it was still good. The distributor is from auto zone with a lifetime warranty cuz I kept blowing thru distributors. What do you think could be happening?

Return that garbage aftermarket distributor and go get an OEM one from a junkyard
