I am working on fixing a p1457. After replacing the part I clear the code. Am I required by most smog shops to wait a certain number of miles before I can attempt a smog check? Can the smog shop tell that I have just cleared a code and expect me to wait longer? I am in California and not performing a STAR check. Thanks

Don't do emissions testing here but I'll take a stab at it. The ECU goes through self checks every time codes are cleared. For the emissions test I believe it takes three drive cycles. If this self test has not completed I don't think you can get tested.

CA emissions are among the strictest, if not the strictest, in the US. There's a reason why aftermarket companies have CARB (California Air Resources Board) legal stuff
